Telenor has announced a strategic collaboration with Nvidia to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) to the Nordic region. The goal is to enhance internal operations, develop new AI opportunities, and forge strategic partnerships.
Becoming an AI Cloud Partner
By joining forces with Nvidia, Telenor aims to establish itself as a key AI cloud partner, facilitating generative AI applications at a national level across the Nordic markets. AI will be integrated into various aspects of Telenor's operations, ranging from customer service to network optimization.
Investment in AI Infrastructure
To kickstart this collaboration, Telenor plans to invest approximately 100 million Norwegian kroner ($9.5 million) in Nvidia infrastructure within the first year. This investment will drive the adoption of AI solutions for both internal use and external business customers.
Exploring 5G and AI Integration
Additionally, Telenor will leverage this partnership to explore software-based network solutions that enable the simultaneous deployment of 5G and AI technologies on a unified infrastructure. This approach is expected to enhance efficiency and innovation within Telenor's operations.
Driving Innovation and Efficiency
Amol Phadke, Telenor's global chief technology officer, expressed confidence in the collaboration's ability to deliver cutting-edge solutions to customers, foster innovation, improve operational efficiency, and support the growth of the AI ecosystem in the Nordic region.
