Sarcos Technology and Robotics saw a significant boost in their shares, surging 21% to 81 cents, following the announcement of a $13.8 million contract awarded to its Sarcos Defense unit. The contract was granted by the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex located at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.
Strengthening Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Capabilities
The company's stock recently hit a 52-week low of 65 cents and has experienced a decline of 94% over the past year. However, this new contract is expected to have a positive impact on Sarcos' future.
The main focus of the contract is to support the development, integration, and validation of Sarcos' advanced software framework, known as the AI Computational Service. This software will utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to enhance the performance of their robotic systems under the Guardian line.
Advancing Military Technology for the Department of the Air Force
Spanning over a period of four years, this contract will allow Sarcos to continue advancing their software technology, specifically tailored to meet the requirements of the Department of the Air Force. As part of the agreement, Sarcos will conduct Military Utility Assessments at various U.S. Air Force locations, including Warner Robins Air Force Base. These assessments will serve as a platform to test Sarcos' intelligent algorithms implemented on their robots.
By addressing operational challenges currently faced by the Air Force, these demonstrations aim to showcase the enhanced productivity and safety achieved through the combination of Sarcos' Guardian line of robots and their AI and ML software.
It is evident that Sarcos is committed to supporting the Air Force and the Department of Defense in their missions by providing cutting-edge technology solutions.
