On February 6th, Winfrey made a personal investment of $1.5 million to acquire 5,050 Charter shares, paying an average price of $295.29 per share. According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Winfrey now owns a total of 57,700 Charter shares in his personal account and holds an additional 148,000 shares through trusts and a limited liability company.
Winfrey declined to comment on his recent purchase.
This transaction marks his first open-market acquisition of Charter stock in two years, with his previous purchase occurring back in February 2022 when he bought 2,750 shares for $1.6 million at an average price of $591.96 per share.
J.P. Morgan acted in response to the company's fourth-quarter report by downgrading Charter stock from Overweight to Neutral and lowering its price target to $370 from $445. Analyst Sebastino Petti stated, "CEO Winfrey expects Charter to 'return to a more normalized internet growth over time,' but we expect broadband losses to continue in 2025."
