More than 700 flights at Frankfurt Airport were cancelled due to inclement winter conditions, and further weather-related disruptions to flights are expected on Thursday.
Flight Schedule
Roughly 1,030 flights had been scheduled at Frankfurt Airport on Wednesday, according to a Fraport spokesman. However, due to the adverse weather conditions, a significant number of cancellations occurred.
Future Disruptions
The spokesman also stated that additional cancellations are anticipated tomorrow, particularly in the first half of the day. However, it remains unclear at this time how many flights will be affected.
Passenger Advisory
In light of the situation, Fraport Airport issued a message to passengers, advising them to check their flights before traveling to the airport. If a flight is cancelled, passengers are urged to refrain from going to the airport.
Weather Warnings
Frankfurt is among several cities in Germany, including Mainz and Trier, under extreme severe weather warnings by the German Weather Service. Freezing conditions are expected, which pose a high risk of slippery conditions due to freezing rain and heavy ice build-up.
